Alpaca Farm Fest 2005

With the Inaugural Alpaca Farm Fest in 2004 such a huge success, we've reserved a date to come together again.  This year's event will be held at Tick Ridge Farm on September 24th, 2005.  We'd be happy to mail or e-mail you a flier.    Click here to e-mail Shelley now to request a flier or more information.  Here's a little of what you can expect.  We hope to see you here!

As with last year's event, we expect to have the following "attractions" for you to visit at the Farm Fest. This year it will be bigger and better!  We like the concept of bringing all the farms and other attractions together in one place for your ease of visiting.  Whether you are an experienced breeder or new to the world of alpacas, there will be something here for you to see.

Good food- Concessions by local Boy Scout Troop 898 (hot sandwiches, picnic food, drinks and snacks) Livestock dogs- The Denney Family from Pyrenees Paradise-pups for sale Ponies and miniature horses from All Star Horse Farm
bunnies ! Good music - The Gahanna Fiddlers alpaca obstacle course & showing demos
spinners, weavers, knitters all showing you what you can do with the luxurious alpaca fiber. Learn about alpacas.  Seminars for beginners and those more advanced in Animal Husbandry. Goats to pet and learn about, goat cheese to try from the Steck family  Check out the goat sulkies!
 Holmes Laboratory representative, Gary Horrisberger, will be here to help you understand the services they provide, testing of Hay, Water and Soil to optimize your alpacas' nutrition.  Call Gary ahead if you'd like to drop off Samples for testing.  1-800-344-1101 New this year:  "Kidville"!  A fun area just for kids.  Crafts, games, face painting, a maze, pumpkin painting, and much more, all staffed by local Girl Scouts.  Alpaca fiber and textiles for sale.  Various farms will have fiber from every stage in processing.  From "still on the animal", to bagged raw fleece, to rovings and yarn.  Handmade and machine made goods also available.
Tax information from experienced breeders.  Learn what is deductible on your taxes.  How does the depreciation work?  Learn how raising alpacas can be very tax-friendly.  Alpaca herdsire shopping made easy.  Farms with herdsires to offer will have the animals here to view or will ahve information about them. Baby alpacas! The sweetest babies ever.  This year, see at least two born in the last 3 weeks.  One more due to Nova in September may be here by then also!

Ember's new baby, Picotani, napping shortly after birth on Sunday, September 4th.  Being born is hard work!  Birth weight 18.2 lbs, a big, healthy boy!
